Former Test cricketer Shahid Khan Afridi said that Fakhar Zaman is a genuine opener and he should play in his natural position.
In his recent interview, Afridi was asked about Fakhar's recent performance for Lahore Qalandars as an opener.
"I will not let Fakhar play at any position except as opener. He is only suited for opening position. He can win you matches as an opener," Afridi, also dubbed as Boom Boom, highlighted.
In this year's PSL so far, Fakhar, as an opener, has scored 235 runs at an average of 47.
In the national T20I team recently, the left-handed natural opener was demoted to one down position due to the set opening pair of Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan.
While talking about the performance of Shaheen Shah Afridi, the former star all-rounder said he is improving gradually.
"I think Shaheen is getting better after every match. It's a good sign not only for Lahore but for Pakistan team too," he said.
Meanwhile, Afridi also highlighted the declining performance of Haris and hoped that the right-arm speedster will soon find his form back.
"I want to see Haris back in form once again. He is looking a bit off-colour. But, I am hopeful that he will gain his form soon during this season," he added.
On the other hand, Afridi, who is not a part of PSL this year for the very first time, shared his feedback on pacer Ihsanullah and left-handed batter Saim Ayub.
"It's the benefit of PSL that you unearth talented cricketers. Ihsanullah is an outstanding talent. Saim is looking good. I want to see them play in different situations and conditions. It will test their talent and I am confident that they are the future of Pakistan cricket," he concluded.
Multan Sultans' Ihsanullah is currently the top wicket-taker in the ongoing PSL 8. He has so far bagged 14 wickets.
Saim has also impressed PSL fans by his batting performances. He has so far scored 108 runs including two fifties.
